Our Anniversary Weekend Getaway!

Eric decided to recreate our first little honeymoon…unfortunately, since I’m pregnant, we couldn’t do a lot of the fun stuff we did originally (like Lagoon or horseback riding)…what were you thinking I meant?!

Here are some of the pictures from the Blue Boar Inn…they have one of the best restaurants in Utah complete with Pheasant, Rabbit, Blue Boar…it was quite interesting!!!

I didn’t want to post this picture until I announced I was pregnant…this picture might have ruined the surprise…

Answers to the riddles!!!

So, it’s finally Friday and the answers are as followed:

So, as the story goes; when a man

really loves a woman

they get married…then, one day they see a (answer to Wednesday’s riddle: they are all positive numbers- Good job, Jared!!! You were the only one that guessed any riddle correctly) POSITIVE sign …

O.K., you have to cut me some slack...it was REALLY early in the morning...I could have glammed up...but, I was in the moment!!!

…one day as they are driving and looking around for a parking spot they see (answer to Tuesday’s riddle: you get parking benefits) a SPECIAL PARKING SPOT just for them!!!

Again, I wish I looked better...but when in the moment!!!

They are excited to have a (answer to Monday’s riddle: John Winter’s played Mork & Mindy’s new born baby on the show as Mork’s people-the people from planet ORK- come out looking like old men and age but grow younger and younger looking) BABY coming in January! They wonder what the baby will look like…probably (answer to Thursday’s riddle: yellow and white mixed!) A MIX OF BOTH OF THEM!!

The Last Riddle!!!

Ok, what is this and what is the relevance?

I've been impressed with the creativity of all of your answers (except Jared...duh, the math was the easy part...the relevance was the riddle!!!!) though few of you seem brave enough to immortalize it in the comments. Come on, Jared, I know I can count on you...what do they all have in common (other than none of them are prime)?

The Phillips Men go fishing!!

While I, myself, do not fully comprehend the joy that is found in hours spent waiting for a fish (that you're not even going to keep and eat) to bite the end of your line...it is not hard to see the joy it brings to the Phillips men!!! Seeing Eric's face after a good day of fishing makes me love fishing, too!!! You know what else this picture makes me love? FANNY PACKS!!! Those were the good ol' days, huh, Eric?!?!! HAHAHAHAHAA!!!

The original Phillips Brothers!!! What a handsome pair they make!!

Geoff and his prize!!! All I see is dinner!!

A Riddle for Monday!!

Who is this man and what is the relevance?

Post your guesses in the "comments" section!!!

I'm going to have a new riddle each day this week!!!!

Dinner with George and Joan!!

George and Joan are here for the week. As was tradition, everyone was planning on meeting at the Blind Dog (or as Eric and I refer to it, The Blind Chicken), but alas, construction caused a detour in our plans and we went to Taggarts. It was a very cozy restaurant nestled in Morgan, Utah. It was all quite delicious…my two…scratch that three favorite parts were (in no specific order) the Rosemary Garlic Bread (which our waitress described as a RASPBERRY Garlic bread), the Key Lime Cheesecake and spending time with the family (though, we missed Adam & Camille and Annie & Bryan and are excited to see Annie, Bryan and the kids next week!!!). Then, on Sunday, we had a wonderful Bar-B-Q with Adam,Camille, Carli, Julie, Jim, Joan , George, me and Eric. Adam did the grilling...and boy, was it delicious!!! Here is everyone that was able to make it to Taggerts...

Here are Carli, Joan and Julie...

Eric trying to ham it up resulted in us both making weird faces...

Fourth of July WaR ZOnE!!!

The fourth of July was CRAZYY!!!! In California you can't even have your own fireworks so you have to go to a firework show...well, I was pretty excited to see how people in WYoming celebrate the fourth...they had a show...but it literally PALED in comparison to the people on the streets (who I believe spent thousands of dollars on their own fireworks!!!). It was like a war zone...except without death and fighting and all the other kind of negative stuff...imagine a "happy" war zone...
Above are Carli and Julie at the fireworks!!

Me and Eric enjoying the fireworks!!

We were with the kids one day and they wanted lunch, so we decided to make heart sandwiches...here's Brookie with her heart sandwhich (the shape she requested...of course!!)Look at that smile...she should be a model!!

...and I just have to comment on Hanky's kind, kind disposition...he wanted a star sandwich,...but by then, the desire to make and waste another sandwich had gone down, so we asked if he would eat a heart sandwich...ok, he replied...so, we gave him the outside of Brookie's sandwich...at first I think he was upset because he knew he was getting the shaft...but in the end, he just sucked it up and ate the sandwich...he's SO cute and easy-going!!! We love you, Hanky!!!

A Clay Hill Scare!

Eric's sister Carli asked to go to the clay hills...and any excuse to go is good with me...here, Eric and I are proudly standing on the top of a hill.

Eric, eagerly preparing for his slide down the hill! You've got to love that his gloves are his mom's gardening gloves!!!!

Eric face…I think the picture says it all!!!

As you can see Hanky and I had a blast playing patty cakes!!

Carli and the Clay Hills

So, I like to Blog hop...that's when you waste work hours to look at your friends' friend's blog...that's right...people whom you don't even know...and I've become obsessed with this one couple...it's crazy...I look at their blog more than some of my actual friends (actual meaning people who would recognize me if I said hi as opposed to this couple whom I consider so dear that I pray for them oft...I know...I need help). SO, at the off chance that others blog hop onto our blog...this is Eric's sister Carli...cutest thing ever, right? Anyway, she just moved to Provo and aside from being so, so, so good looking...she has the coolest personality...all the fun and low-key qualities of a guy mixed with all the good attributes of a girl!...and she's SINGLE!!! Not for long...so, if anyone out there knows a ridiculously handsome, righteous, intelligent, rich, funny, witty, kind-hearted single guy...leave a comment and we'll see if we can make a love connection!!! I get to filter the requests, though! :) She has already yelled at me for writing this blog,so you had better make it worth it!!!

08.08.08

Beijing Olympics start today!!! Here is a picture of fireworks above the National Stadium…man, do the Chinese LOVE their fireworks…hey, if I invented something, I would use every opportunity to show it off, too!!

The Chinese are always strategic in choosing dates that are considered lucky days…thus 08.08.08. Aside from the fact that it is very symmetrical and therefore pleasing to the mind (speaking as a former Mathlete) it has significance because eight sounds like the words for “fortune” as well as symbolizing eternity (eight on it’s side is of course the symbol for eternity). For all these reasons and more…we chose to be sealed for all time and eternity last year on 08.08…so, that means…

It’s our anniversary!!! They say the first year is the hardest and I have to say I concur (at least I hope that this statement is true) because (if so), the rest of our lives will be even more fun, easy going, enjoyable and pleasurable than this past year has been!!! Who can be so lucky in life to be spared from sorrow,…but what joy there is in having an eternal companion to laugh together, to progress together, to mourn while I mourn, to thirst while I thirst, to be both a student and a teacher together,…Eric is the greatest husband EVER and I could not feel Heavenly Father’s love more than when I look at Eric and can see and feel all the blessings I have been given as well as the ones that are still yet to come!

Produce Minus 7 Rule

Just so I am not made into a liar and to appease the many (really only Annie has shown any interest) here are the updates on our house…
Here are the stairs…this is actually kind of a funny story…there are advantages and disadvantages to living in a small town, one of the disadvantages is the lack of fresh produce and groceries… here in Kemmerer you have to subtract at least 7 days from how long you normally think you can keep produce… this was a mental adjustment I had to make when I moved here, I used to always account for a two week refrigeration life for milk…again…follow the rule…subtract 7…you have one week (if you are lucky) to drink that whole gallon of milk. Now, for some of you, that is no difficult task…but for us…it’s a little more difficult as I was raised on Soy Milk (sweet delicious milk of beans) and Eric rarely eats breakfast and would choose to drink soda over virtually anything else in life…so, I stopped buying milk…but Eric and his plethora of cereal was starting to stack up and none were being consumed…why, I asked…because there’s no milk…o.k., I will buy milk, but not until I made him fully aware of the produce minus 7 rule. Fine, he agreed…as a reminder to eat the cereal, I laid each box where I knew he would see it…I know his daily routine… I put one in our bedroom, one on the toilet seat, one by his suits and all the way down the stairs…so, it’s now August 6, 2008 and we still have that milk that expired July 11 in our refrigerator and as a matter of principle, I have not thrown it away yet…(for any of you Everybody loves Raymond fans…it’s like the suitcase and the stinky cheese)!

Updates on the house...

Here is a picture of what you see when you first enter our house.

Here is our formal living room (the home teacher room)

Here is our informal living room with the flat screen. The rest of the house is still under construction or pretty uninteresting (more so than these pictures, that is).
