Mechanical things malfunctioning

So...these flowers are called white Acadias...it's relevance will soon reveal itself...
I'm grateful for my husband's kind temperament. He really is so slow to anger and even then, his anger is always productive...for example...whenever we get into an argument (which we've only ever had one...hahaha...we don't argue a lot...but, come one, everyone disagrees now and then) he will go and do dishes or clean...it's pretty funny...I should try to get him mad on purpose!!!
Anyway, anyone who knows Eric knows that there really are only a few things that really get him upset
1) Being lost
2) Being late
3) Mechanical things malfunctioning

A little over a week ago while Julie and Carli were away, we went to visit Jim and go out to lunch. While in the parking lot of the all-you-can-eat Chinese restaurant, Eric's door wouldn't close to our Jeep. Well, he tried calmly to fix the problem...then it just escalated to slamming the door over and over...finally, after a large woman with a cane fixed the door, Eric exclaimed, "we need to get a new car,"...and three hours later, we bought our new (to us) white Acadia (hence the flowers...). Geoff (Eric's brother) knew someone who sells cars...Crazy, huh?

Here it is in all it's glory...I know I'm lame...but I haven't been able to bring myself to drive it yet...it's too nice...I'd rather just drive my old Honda CRV for now. I've had this problem since I was a child...my mom indulged me and bought me this really nice Esprit vest and I never wore it because I always wanted to "save" it for a special occasion...then, before I knew it, vests were way out (which apparently are back in)...what a waste...I should just enjoy it...old habits die hard!!!

Guessing Game!

So, ever since Eric morphed our faces...I've been wondering what other people would look like...so, see if you can guess who these people are and what we did to them. If we used your picture, please know that it was done in the spirit of fun and we hope that no one is offended. To put things into perspective, I put my picture in and had them make me Asian (which I obviously already am) and this is how they made me look...so, hopefully, you will all just take this with a grain of salt!

Just as a side note...that's a pretzel not a cigarette...which is a big clue who it is!

This one freaks me out!!!!! Im still laughing...HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAA!!!

Don't you think this guy sort of looks like Paul Newman?

I particularly like the pearls!! No matter what you're doing, do it with STYLE!!!

Don't you just want to pinch his cheeks?

Max's Blessing

Almost 8 Weeks after Maxwell Daniel Phillips was born, we blessed him at church. We were delighted to have so many of our family members and friends present for the blessing. Here is Eric holding Max in his blessing outfit right before church.

We had a little luncheon afterward for our family. I made a Where the Wild Things Are themed cake for Max's first birthday celebration (I know it's sort of his zero birthday celebration...but it still totally counts!)

Here are the traditional Chinese red eggs that are eaten in celebration of birth and good will for the new baby and family.

Julie, her sister Linda and Jenna. We were so happy that the Christiensens could make the long trek to Kemmerer!

Here is Carli and her boyfriend Chuck.

Becky (Eric's cousin) and her husband Brandon. After college she decided to fulfil her dream of going to beauty school...I'm always so impressed when people have dreams and hopes...I think I was always so used to being told what my goals should be...I don't really remember having too many of my own...does that make me sound totally pathetic (that's rhetorical)?

Here are Jason and Meradith...look what a cute family they make....wait a minute! That's MY BABY!!!This is their daughter, Lucy! She was fascinated with Max. We were joking that they might fall in love one day...but then we remembered they'd be second cousins...NOT COOL!!!

Here's Carli with Max...

She says that Max looks like Chien Po from Mulan...
I think he looks more like Russell Wong (he's also half Chinese and one of my first crushes ever!)
Here are the proud parents...Max did SO well...he laid silently awake throughout all of church and let everyone hold him without fussing...his mom, on the other hand was having a slight aneurysm!
Jim and Jenna...how cute are they?

Becky, me and Carli!

Here are Adam and Camille...looking swanky like two models!
