So, we have tons of pictures from this year...but you know how it goes when it's on someone else's camera...it's as good as non-existent. So, here are some from last year...perhaps next year we will have the few from this year.

Pears and Cigarettes

So, first of all, I know we have been slacking with the blog…but, it’s difficult to post entries without a camera…because, let’s face it…no one wants to read a blog without pictures, it’s like getting a wedding invitation without an engagement picture…you feel JIPPED!!

Aristotle said that you can learn more from a person in an hour of play than a lifetime of work…and that sort of fits in with the motto of the guys out here at the plant…kindergarten rules…be fair, play fair and do your part…

So, that leads me to the pears…I got TONS of free pears today…and it makes me happy…for several reasons…

ONE, I love pears…so, happy day!

TWO, I got them for free…happy, happy day.

THREE (and this is sort of what makes the pears so sweet) I was thought of…one of the guys at the plant, Brent Sheets, was contacted about a truck that rolled over and he thought to call me to see if I wanted to take some home…since I’m in a “motherly way,” and he didn’t want me to tell any of the other women (because some of them have a reputation for not playing by the kindergarten rules). Then, call after call came in. I tell you…nothing is as appealing as finding out that someone thinks fondly of you. You can’t help but reciprocate their feelings!

Eric makes fun of me because I always bring treats to the plant…but I have definitely learned …what goes around comes around…today, I had to do the payroll for the entire plant by myself (as the other clerk is on short term disability for a few months) and people were just so thoughtful and I got enough food to last me a few days…food at the plant is equivalent to cigarettes in the slammer (I couldn’t think of a better slang term for jail)!

So, happy, happy days!

States of Grace

So, Eric and I decided to watch a movie for Family Home Evening last night. It was a Church-ish movie, so don’t judge us!!! It’s often referred to as God’s Army II but a more accurate and fitting title is it’s subtitle, “States of Grace.” It, unlike God’s Army, has little to do with the normal day of a Mormon Missionary and much more to do with the essence of the work of missionaries. While it’s shallow depiction of specific Mormon doctrine might disappoint some out there, I felt that the choice to delve more into the missionary struggles and triumphs resulted in a much more rewarding film.

This movie has clearly overshadowed my previous favorite Church-y movie, “Single’s Ward.” While I make no apologies for my love of Singles Ward…hey, it’s funny…admit it…I would like to make clear that States of Grace is not only higher on my list….it’s quality has an eminence far superior to that of Single’s Ward. This movie will make you laugh and cry…if you’re not a crier…it will make your heart ache…

* I will note that it is NOT appropriate for children as it is for a mature adult audience.

Having a little sense of humor goes a long way...

Having a little sense of humor goes a long way... at least it does in my eyes. So, I thought this email was particularly funny. I’m not an advocate of bashing any religion…but this is more about a specific religion making a fool of itself…I think it will be telling and interesting to see which church you each, personally, feel is making the fool of itself.

If the pictures are too small for you to see...just click on any picture and they will all enlarge.

I DARE YOU!!!

http://www.seriouslysoblessed.blogspot.com/

http://mormonhusbands.blogspot.com/

Funniest two blogs EVER!!! The first link is off of Meradith's Blog and the second one my friend Kristina sent me the link! They make me laugh SO hard...we've all been there...the funniest is that we all think that we know people that the blogs are referring to in their satirical way …but the cold truth is that it’s really funny to us because it rings true, whether we admit it or not, we all resemble a few of the stereotypes…so, I will go first in admitting at least one of my revelations… in today's post they mockingly write about their "feti" (as they're having twins),

"...I've also been plugging my iphone's headphones into my belly button and playing Beethoven, Baby Einstein, Teach Yourself Chinese and Michael McLean to help excelerate your geniuses."

Sadly, I actually do EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE!!! (except for Michael McLean...though, I admit, I'm totally going to google it and see if it's worth my time and efforts and ...I don't have an iPhone...but I do use my iPod!)

I figure there are worse things out there to spend your time doing...even if it's all for naught...alright...anyone else up to admiting lame things they do?
I DARE YOU!!!

Clever Maternity Halloween Costume Ideas?!

So, at the risk of sounding redundant, I LOVE HALLOWEEN…half of the fun is coming up with a costume…in years past I’ve felt like I’ve come up with some funny stuff; I was in a group as Charlie’s Angel one year (Lucy Liu of course), my friends and I were 80’s prom queens (loved going to the thrift store to find an 80’s dress…Tamara, do you have any pictures from that year?), I was Deathstrike from X-Men (again, Tamara, do you have pictures of us that year we went to that Halloween party?),…Pictured above is from last year when Eric and I went as Batman and Robin (my mom thought it would be funnier if I were Batman…but it was a no go with Eric…)

So, that brings me to my current dilemma…what do I dress up as while pregnant? I wanted to be Homer Simpson and have Eric dress up as Marge…but, again, it was a no go with Eric…something about not wanting to cross dress,…well, I have no such qualms…so far our top runners are:
Eric and I would dress up as Elvis and Fat Elvis (respectively)

…and Bun in the Oven Baker and Bun Maker….any suggestions out there for creative, clever and plausible maternity Halloween costumes?
